  WATER SUPPLY PROGRAMME
    A large number of villages have been severally damaged during the war including extensive exodus of internal displaced people (IDP) from their homes for safe drinking water and better living standards in Afghanist-an.Jam-e-Shafa Organization has launched the water supply scheme in the province of Kabul, Ghazni and Logar.

The total 3000 families were facilitated with this scheme.

In year 2001 drilled six deep wells in the rural of Kabul Puli Chaki area. In year 2002 we installed five hand pumps in the province of Ghazni in district of Anadar and drilled five deep wells in province of Zabul.

       
 

NURSING TRAINING PROGRAMME

    Jam-e-Shifa hospital (JSH) conduct training courses for the female . A total 20 nurses per year are trained. This programme was started in 1994 and till now 180 nurses were graduated and trained from this institute. These trained nurses are providing services in Afghanistan and Pakistan. The purpose of this training is to provide the opportunity to the Afghan refugees females to get the training and serve in their community to cope with the emergency and delivery cases on the spot. Some of the graduated students are performing their services as Traditional Birth Attendants (TBA).

These females are valued by their communities and are providing their valuable services to refugees women in camps and in urban areas.

       
    TB / DOTS PROGRAMME
    Directly Observed Treatment Short Course DOTS:

This TB/DOTS program was started on September 2002 in collaboration with Mercy Corps (MC),WHO and Provincial TB Control (PTP). This section is rendered by DOTS officer and TB trainer. TB trainer is involved with the community for identification of TB cases. On identification , TB trainer starts direct medication and provides ways of prevention. For diagnosis of TB suspected patients from doctors are referred to TB DOTS team for investigation. After proper investigation and diagnosis patient of TB starts anti-TB drugs under the guide lines of DOTS programme.

Jam-e- Shafa Hospital is providing full TB diagnosis facilities and treatment free of cost under the Direct Observation Treatment Short course (DOTS) to the needy people and doing out reach activities for more coverage and detection of the patients.

       
    MOBILE PROGRAMME
    Jam-E-Shafa hospital has mobile programmes. The main objective of this is to provide health care facilities to all beneficiaries who are suffering from different diseases and cannot come to the hospital for consultation and medication and also guidelines of health and hygiene would be given to patients. One doctor, two LHVs and a master trainer are caring out this programme. Medicines are provided free of cost and the diseases treated in this mobile programmes are usually Diarrheal, RTI , Malaria and Enteric fever etc.

Jam-e-Shafa hospital is providing mobile health services to the urban refugees who are residing in those areas where there is no access to health facility e.g Pashtoon Abad ,Kechra Road, Ghoas Abad ,Bi Pass, Nawan Ada and Sariab Road etc. Immediate treatment is provided at the spot and patients are shifted to the hospital if admission is required.

       
    AFGHANISTAN PROGRAMME

    Jam-e-Shafa Alkhidmat Hospital in Kandahar:

Jam-E-Shifa organization established a hospital in May,2003 in Kandahar city. The aim of the establishment of this hospital is also to provide Reproductive Health Facilities. The hospital is compromised of following components.

  • OPD Section.
  • Indoor section.
  • Gynae/Obs Section.
  • EPI Section.
  • Growth monitoring section

All the sections are functioning at the same standard as in Pakistan. But we are seeking for any honorable donor to upgrade the mentioned sections and we are planning to start TB/DOTS programme, Lieshmaniasis, and Mid Wife Training.
