Jam-e-shafa Organization (JSO) is a non-profitable and non-sectarian organization established in 1992 after the collapse of the communist. The organization is registered with Government of Pakistan (Ministry of SAFRON)Islamabad and Government of Afghanistan (ministry of planning). JSO has established a hospital.(Jam-e-shafa hospital) Quetta Pakistan which is providing health services to female and children including reproductive health services. It is also operating another hospital in kandahar ,Afghanistan since 2004,in collaboration with other NGOs .The reproductive health units are equipped with ultra sound machines,incubators, minor operation theater for minor surgeries ,ambulances and vehicles for other assigned duties .JSO is also providing preventive care services such as EPI,TB DOTs , HIV aids nursing training program and etc. Jam-e-shafa organization's has been receiving assistance from SAFRON and UNHCR through the commissioner for Afghan Refugees at Quetta
More then half of the patients are women ,new born and infants.Jam-e-shafa organization s services are attracting those families and specially to women who usually prefer to delivery at home with the help of traditional untrained midwives. The percentage of delivery complications in those cases is very high who still deliver at home. The different programs run by JSO have positive impact on the elements of obstetric & Gynecology care.
JSO is well aware about its responsibility as a result of which maternal and infant morbidity and mortality rate is declined in the catchments areas .We are also providing family planning services to the families .In this regard our trained doctors and other Para medical staff provide information and all the possible facilities .Children less than five years are particularly monitored in terms of their nutritional status .Nutritional aid is also provided to the poor and needy children free of cast .
Proper counseling by our trained staff helps a lot in satisfaction of families, as a result of which number of patients are increasing day by day.We also arrange awareness sessions about health in the community .Record of all the activities are maintained on monthly ,quarterly and yearly basis.
